  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with brown sugar and cinnamon until bubbly. Pour into the prepared pan and arrange sliced apples on top.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Stir in sour cream or yogurt, then gradually add dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Pour the batter over the apples and bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cooling for 10 minutes before inverting onto a plate to serve.
